The #2000 Diamond Disc adds a finer refinement stage after #1000. Use it to further reduce the scratch pattern and prepare the edge for #3000 ceramic honing when you want a more gradual finishing progression.

Refine the finish, not the shape.
#2000 works on an edge that has already been sharpened. Its role is finer abrasion and surface refinement, rather than repairing chips or rebuilding a very dull bevel.
An extra step when you want a finer progression.
Use light passes after #1000, then continue to #3000 ceramic and a strop if desired. #2000 is optional and does not replace the earlier sharpening work. A finer grit alone does not guarantee a mirror finish.

Fine-tune your finishing sequence.
Sharpen through #1000
Establish and refine the edge with the earlier grits appropriate to its condition before using #2000.
Refine with #2000
Keep the same angle and use light, controlled passes to further refine the surface of the bevel.
Finish with ceramic
Continue to #3000 ceramic for the final honing stage. Stropping may follow; there is no need to use every grit during routine maintenance.
