The #700 Diamond Disc is an optional intermediate grit between #400 and #1000. It refines the coarser scratch pattern from initial sharpening, giving you a smaller step toward a finer working edge.

After coarse sharpening establishes the edge, the next stages refine its surface. #700 provides an intermediate abrasive step, reducing the coarser marks before #1000 does the finer work.
Use it where it adds value.
Choose #700 when you want a more gradual transition from #400 to #1000. It is not the first choice for major edge repair, nor a substitute for the finer finishing stages. Not every knife needs this extra step.

Complete the coarse work
Use #400 to establish the edge first when the knife is dull. Carry out any necessary #200 restoration before that.
Refine with #700
Maintain the same sharpening angle and use light passes to reduce the coarser scratch pattern.
Continue to #1000
Move to #1000 for finer edge refinement, then choose the finishing stage that suits your routine.
